Welcome to Midwest Mastiffs. We hope you enjoy your stay as we show you a little
bit about this magnificent breed, the Mastiff.
From the moment we got our first mastiff, we completely fell in
love with this breed. I can't imagine ever being without at least one. Because we love this breed so much, and have reached
a point in our life that we have the time necessary to devote to them, we decided to take it to the next level and become
a hobby breeder. We are not a kennel. Although we occasionally produce a litter, our dogs are not just breeding stock. They
are friends, companions and members of our family. If we have a breeding planned, it is carefully thought out with health,
temperament, type, and soundness in mind. We breed for quality, not quantity. Our goal is to produce healthy, happy puppies
that live up to the breed standards set by the American Kennel Club. All of our dogs are full blooded Mastiffs and AKC registered. In addition, any litters we produce are also registered with
the AKC. All of our dogs are kept fully up to date on their shots and also receive monthly heartworm preventative.
We are breeders of the true "Mastiff", sometimes referred to as the "English Mastiff"
or the "Old English Mastiff". Please do not confuse us with the "American Mastiff", which is a cross between
the Mastiff and the Anatolian Shepherd. The AKC recognizes Mastiffs but does not recognize the American Mastiff. The
documented history, health and temperament of the foundation dogs of this mix is sketchy at best. Before you decide on an
American Mastiff, please research all aspects, especially the temperament, of this mixed breed very thoroughly.
